Vladimir Putin has announced he’ll meet with Donald Trump, after Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky alleged the U.S. president has been duped by Russian misinformation, Knewz.com can reveal.
Putin called the meeting with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia a “first step” to restoring diplomatic relations with the country.
While speaking at a drone factory in Saint Petersburg, Putin said: “I was briefed (on the talks). I rate them highly, there is a result.
“In my opinion, we made the first step to restore work in various areas of mutual interests.”
The despot added: “It is impossible to solve many issues, including the Ukrainian crisis, without increasing the level of trust between Russia and the United States.”
Putin’s comments followed Zelensky criticizing the Trump administration taking a friendly stance with Russia while he pushed back on several claims the U.S. president made during a press conference earlier this week.
Zelensky expressed he “would like Trump’s team to be more truthful” when addressing Russia and the ongoing war in Ukraine, including Trump baselessly claiming Ukraine was to blame for the war breaking out in 2022.
He further pushed back on Trump claiming the U.S. has given Ukraine $500 billion – and shot down the president suggesting his country could pay back the aid with a minerals exploration deal, which Zelensky said was “not a serious conversation.”
Zelensky added: “Look, we all want a victory, and we want Trump to win, and we want Ukraine to win, all of us to succeed.
“But there is nothing clear here… I am protecting Ukraine. I can’t sell it away. I can’t sell our state.”
In regard to U.S. talks with Russia, he said: “I believe that the United States helped Putin to break out of years of isolation… All of this has no positive impact on Ukraine.”
He additionally said the talks came as a “surprise” to Ukrainian officials and sparked fears across his country, as well as Europe, that Ukraine will be left out of negotiations.
Meanwhile, Putin claimed Russia was “not imposing anything on anyone.”
He added: “We are ready, I have already said this a hundred times – if they want, please, let these negotiations take place. And we will be ready to return to the table for negotiations. No one is excluding Ukraine.”
Still, critics and political pundits have raised concerns over Trump’s increasingly cozy relationship with Putin, especially given his past praise of the dictator.
During a 2022 appearance on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, Trump called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “genius.”
He said: “I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine – of Ukraine – Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.
“He used the word ‘independent’ and ‘we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.’ You gotta say that’s pretty savvy.”

An international politics expert has warned that a potential “deal” between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will lead to Ukraine being “carved up,” while commenting on the talks held in Saudi Arabia between American and Russian diplomats.
Knewz.com has learned that the talks in Saudi Arabia resulted in the United States and Russia agreeing to work towards three goals: the establishment of closer relations and economic cooperation, the formation of “a high-level team to support Ukraine peace talks,” and “to restore staffing at their respective embassies in Washington and Moscow.”
The meeting in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, February 18, involved U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Michael Waltz, and special Mideast envoy Steven Witkoff, along with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian foreign affairs adviser, Yuri Ushakov.
In a statement, Rubio stressed that the talks “marked the beginning of a conversation, and more work needs to be done.”
Lavrov seemed to echo Rubio’s sentiment as he said that “the conversation was very useful… We not only listened, but also heard each other.”
Notably, although the talks involved formulating a plan to find an end to the Ukraine war, the meeting did not include Ukrainian officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has long insisted that peace talks regarding Ukraine must involve officials from Kyiv, and has maintained that his country would not accept any outcome from the talks in Saudi Arabia.
Ukraine’s demands to be included in peace talks came amidst speculations that a settlement regarding the conflict facilitated by the current Donald Trump administration might go in Russia’s favor: with the frontline being frozen and Russia retaining the territories it has annexed in Ukraine over the course of the war.
Trump’s Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth said in a statement in Brussels on Wednesday, February 12, that “returning to Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders is unrealistic, that NATO membership should not be on the table, and that U.S. troops in Ukraine would not be part of any security guarantee,” according to reports.
A NATO membership is also something Trump does not see in the cards for Ukraine, as he said previously: “I don’t see any way that a country in Russia’s position … could allow them to join NATO. I don’t see that happening.”
Commenting on the talks in Saudi Arabia, Professor Inderjeet Parmar, Head of Department of International Politics at City, University of London, said in a statement:
“(Given) that Ukraine, NATO and the EU has been excluded from the US-Russia meeting in Riyadh indicates where power lies. President Trump is after material gains for the US – especially Ukraine’s mineral resources such as uranium, lithium, titanium, and rare earth deposits. Currently, China dominates supply chains of rare earth metals -used in military technologies for example. China is the US’ ultimate target, the global context of the talks with Russia.”
“Trump says he wants at least $500 billion worth of Ukraine’s rare earth deposits, around half of which actually lie in territories currently occupied by Russia. In return, Trump offers Ukraine security. Hence, the talks with Russia, to try and do a ‘deal,’” Prof. Parmar added.
“However, this deal is likely to either exclude or subordinate Europeans’ interests in the same minerals. As the EU foreign policy head, Kaja Kallas, noted recently, the EU has poured large amounts of aid into Ukraine and does not want to see Russia taking Ukrainian territories, the US securing natural resources, and Europe paying the bill.”
“Given what we know about the Trump administration’s material goals – hence desire to grab Greenland, Panama, Canada, etc – and Trump’s deal-maker personality – the war in Ukraine has little to do with defending democracy or sovereignty: it is a struggle for resources worth hundreds of billions of dollars, if not more. Trump also wants Ukraine to buy more US liquid natural gas,” he further stated.
“Ukraine increasingly resembles a body on the US, EU and Russian surgeon’s operating table – ready to be carved up, much as colonial terriorties were carved up by the European empires in the 19th and early twentieth centruries. The biggest loser from the process is likely to be Ukraine and its war-weary people,” Prof. Parmar concluded in his statement.
It is worth noting that U.S. military volunteers fighting alongside Ukraine’s armed forces have branded President Trump a “jacka–” and a “coward” over his private phone call with President Putin the previous week.
Trump spoke to the Russian autocrat on Wednesday, February 12, following which Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the new U.S. position to end the conflict “impressive.”
Ryan O’Leary, an Iraq war veteran who leads Chosen Company, one of the largest foreign volunteer units in Ukraine, said in a statement:
“F— Trump and his sh—y supposed peace deal… Any peace deal is ultimately up to Ukrainians alone, who should be included directly in talks. Neither Trump nor his administration should have any say in how the war ends.”
“Only the soldiers and the Ukrainian people should have that say, not some jackass and his jackass cabinet members sitting behind their white picket-fenced houses on a golf course,” O’Leary added.
Furthermore, a Ukrainian military officer called the U.S. an unreliable partner following the call and alleged that this was “the greatest disappointment from the actions of the United States.”
“Your politicians have lost their dignity… Ukraine’s betrayal after Afghanistan will have catastrophic consequences for America’s perception in the world,” the officer said in the statement.

First Lady Melania Trump is set to turn a pretty penny, after agreeing on a $40 million deal with Amazon to license a documentary film about her life.
And in true Trump fashion, Knewz.com can reveal the former model is hoping to bank even more big bucks by selling off sponsorship opportunities for the project.
Melania is set for a $40 million payday to film a docuseries which is expected to be released in theaters and on Prime Video later this year.
Of that, she’ll personally pocket a cool $28 million all for herself.
But the 54-year-old is looking for more money and has reportedly told blue-chip CEOs they’d get a special name drop at the end of the film for the low price of at least $10 million.
As an added bonus, CEOs who agree to pay for the sponsorship would be invited to the documentary’s premiere.
The $40 million deal includes the documentary and a two-to-three-episode follow-up docuseries on Melania, who will act as executive producer.
It’s the latest public relations move for Melania, who released a self-titled memoir last year and recently promoted her line of Christmas ornaments and jewelry.
Melania often avoids the political spotlight – largely remaining out of sight on her husband Donald‘s, presidential campaign.
But she has embarked on her own venture, promoting her personal brand.
The collaboration between Melania and Amazon comes as the brand’s founder, Jeff Bezos, cozied up to the incoming president.
Bezos recently met with Donald at his Mar-a-Lago residence and announced Amazon would donate $1 million to the politician’s inaugural fund.
During his first administration, Bezos and the president-elect butted heads.
Donald criticized Bezos for political coverage at The Washington Post, which Bezos also owns.
Born in Slovenia, Melania (née Knauss) moved to New York City in 1996 to pursue a modeling career. Two years later, she met Donald at Paolo Zampolli’s party at Kit Kat Club during Fashion Week.
Donald — who had separated from his second wife, Marla Maples — asked for then-28-year-old Melania’s phone number, but she refused to share it.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “I said: ‘I am not giving you my number; you give me yours, and I will call you.’ I wanted to see what kind of number he would give me — if it was a business number, what is this? I’m not doing business with you.”
They began dating shortly after.
After some rocky years, The Apprentice star popped the question to Melania at the 2004 Met Gala and gave her a 15-carat diamond engagement ring.
Melania said of the proposal: “It was a great surprise. We are very happy together.”
Months after the engagement, Donald and Melania exchanged vows in Palm Beach, Fla. They extended the celebration and hosted a reception at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
During a joint appearance on Larry King Live, Melania said: “It was a great chemistry and energy. We had a great time and start (sic) to talk … Something was there right away.”
Donald added: “We just have a really good relationship.”

United States military volunteers fighting alongside Ukraine’s armed forces have branded President Donald Trump a “jacka–” and a “coward” over his private phone call with President Vladimir Putin the previous week.
Knewz.com has learned that President Trump spoke to the Russian autocrat on Wednesday, February 12, following which Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the new U.S. position to end the conflict “impressive.”
Former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton said in a televised statement that President Trump “effectively surrendered” to Putin and described the call as a cause for celebration in Russia.
“I tell you, they’re drinking vodka straight out of the bottle in the Kremlin tonight. It was a great day for Moscow,” Bolton said.
It has been reported that a Ukrainian military officer called the U.S. an unreliable partner following the call and alleged that this was “the greatest disappointment from the actions of the United States.”
“Your politicians have lost their dignity… Ukraine’s betrayal after Afghanistan will have catastrophic consequences for America’s perception in the world,” the officer said in the statement.

Former U.S. military servicemembers fighting on Kyiv’s side for nearly three years have also expressed their fury with President Trump over the private call with Putin.
Charles Carter, another US volunteer, who previously served with America’s 101st Airborne Division, said, “Trump is a coward, sucking Putin’s d—.”
“The fact that the bullet missed his f—ing face by only an inch is a worldwide travesty,” Carter further said, referring to the assassination attempt on the President back in 2024 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has long insisted that peace talks regarding Ukraine must involve officials from Kyiv, and has maintained that his country would not accept any outcome from the recent talks in Saudi Arabia, which involved U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, national security adviser Michael Waltz, and special Mideast envoy Steven Witkoff, along with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian foreign affairs adviser, Yuri Ushakov.

Fourteen states sued President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Thursday, February 13, alleging that the department’s efforts to slash government spending are “unconstitutional.”
Knewz.com has learned that the state of New Mexico is leading the coalition of the 14 states filing the suit.
It has been reported that the coalition includes Arizona, Michigan, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, in addition to New Mexico.
The states have demanded that the court stop the tech billionaire from “making changes to the disbursement of public funds, government contracts, regulations or personnel, as well as receiving access to or altering data systems,” according to reports.
The states wrote in the filing:
“Mr. Musk’s seemingly limitless and unchecked power to strip the government of its workforce and eliminate entire departments with the stroke of a pen or click of a mouse would have been shocking to those who won this country’s independence.”
“There is no office of the United States, other than the President, with the full power of the Executive Branch, and the sweeping authority now vested in a single unelected and unconfirmed individual is antithetical to the nation’s entire constitutional structure,” the filing further stated, per reports.
It is worth noting that a similar lawsuit was filed earlier on Thursday by several current and former employees at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), after the DOGE shuttered the civilian foreign aid and development assistance agency as one of its first projects, slashing its workforce from 10,000 to less than 300.
Furthermore, the department attempted to stop money from going into USAID by accessing the Department of Treasury payment system, although they had originally assured federal lawmakers in a letter that they only intended “to review the integrity of the payments and had “read-only access” to the system as part of an audit process.”
Regarding the lawsuit filed by the 14 states, New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez said in a statement:
“Our constitutional order was founded in part to guard against the accumulation of state power in the hands of a single individual, and while that construction was first focused on the abuse of power of an 18th century monarch, it is no less dangerous in the hands of a 21st century tech tycoon.”
It is worth noting that on the same day, Gavin Kliger, one of the top officials working with DOGE, visited the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) headquarters in Washington to scrutinize operations, according to people familiar with the matter.
Federal government wings are seemingly on edge regarding visits from the DOGE, which has been tasked with scanning the government for areas where it can identify and remove what it deems as unnecessary government expenditures.
It was reported that the senior executives at the IRS were instructed via email on Thursday to identify all “non-essential” contracts for termination.
“In the email, senior executives at the IRS were told that the General Services Administration (GSA), which manages most government contracts, is demanding they review consulting contracts under their purview and determine whether they can be justified,” reports have mentioned.
The email clarified that the General Services Administration would deem a contract non-essential if it “merely generates a report, research, coaching, or an artifact.”
“Consistent with the goals and directives of the Trump administration to eliminate waste, reduce spending, and increase efficiency, GSA has taken the first steps in a government-wide initiative to eliminate non-essential consulting contracts,” the email further read.
Despite the ruckus around the DOGE, President Trump said on Tuesday, February 11, that he was signing an executive order giving Musk more power over the federal workforce.
According to reports, the new executive order states that federal agencies must “coordinate and consult” with DOGE to cut jobs and limit hiring, and will be ordered to “undertake plans for large-scale reductions in force” and limit their hiring process to “essential positions” only.
Notably, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll, only 38% of the surveyed individuals said they approve of the job the Tesla and SpaceX CEO is doing with DOGE, placing the department’s job approval ratings nearly 10 points behind the “historically low” ratings of President Donald Trump.
Reports mentioned that 24% of those in approval said they strongly approve of DOGE and how it is functioning and 14% said they “somewhat approve.”
On the other hand, the Economist/YouGov poll found that 47% of surveyed individuals said they disapprove of Musk and DOGE’s job performance, of which 41% said they “strongly disapprove” while 6% said they “somewhat disapprove.”

England‘s pouty Prince Harry may still face deportation by an American court as unsympathetic President Donald Trump is said to be secretly hell-bent on tossing the law-breaking immigrant from our country
Knewz.com can reveal, in an unprecedented moment in history, the London-born Duke of Sussex could be dragged before a judge to defend himself in a reopened lawsuit lodged by the Heritage Foundation.
Trump recently declared he had no interest in booting Harry from the States – saying the royal exile had enough problems with his “terrible” wife Meghan.
But our insiders say the president would secretly love to “get one over” on the royals by drumming him out of the nation on the back of a legal ruling after insiders said the Queen found him one of the “rudest” people she ever met.
Our source said: “Trump has said he has no interest in deporting Harry – but that doesn’t mean he won’t do it if a court rules he has to go due to lies on his visa application.
“Really, Trump would love to get revenge on the royals for remarks insiders have made about the Queen detesting him after his visits to Britain.”
Harry, 40, admitted he had consumed cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in his 2023 bombshell tell-all, Spare. But critics are demanding to know whether he lied on his visa documents – or if he got a pass from former President Joe Biden‘s liberal administration.
A source said: “It felt like somebody was pulling strings for Harry.”
Mike Howell, executive director of the think tank’s Heritage Oversight Project, says the organization is seeking to clarify if Harry was “properly vetted” or given illegal preferential treatment.
Nile Gardiner, director of the Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom added: “I’ll be urging the president to release Prince Harry’s immigration records, and the president has that legal authority to do that.”
The duke – who lives with his 43-year-old wife, Duchess Meghan Markle – in her home state of California, is not likely to receive support from Trump if things turn sour in his visa battle.
The newly installed commander-in-chief has also already publicly claimed he “wouldn’t protect” Prince Harry because he and Markle “betrayed” his grandmother Queen Elizabeth by badmouthing the royal family.
Even though Harry is married to an American – and the couple’s children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, hold dual citizenship in the U.S. and the United Kingdom – Trump suggested he could still get the boot.
The POTUS has proclaimed: “If he lied, they’ll have to take appropriate action!”

Despite Donald Trump previously promising lowering prices across the market, that isn’t going as planned as the president’s first inflation report is bleak.
According to the new report, core inflation in the month of January rose three percent from a year earlier – and Trump is raging, Knewz.com can reveal.
The stock market also saw a fall with the S&P 500 down around one percent as markets opened on Wednesday morning. The economic hit comes after experts feared Trump’s controversial tariffs would lead to inflation.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell informed Senators on Tuesday that the Fed would not be cutting interest rates as it continues its battle to tame inflation. And the bad news continues to flow in as traders are now predicting the next major rate cut won’t be seen until December.
Despite the rough numbers, Trump still took to Truth Social to stand behind his decisions, as he wrote: “Interest Rates should be lowered, something which would go hand in hand with upcoming Tariffs!!! Lets Rock and Roll, America!!”
Meanwhile, Isaac Stell, the Investment Manager at Wealth Club, believes the Fed will be happy they have not bend the knee to Trump and cut rates as of now.
Stell explained: “The Federal Reserve will likely feel vindicated in its decision to pause rate cuts in January, as the spectre of inflation looks like it’s raising its ugly head once again
“The Fed not only has to juggle its dual mandate of price stability and maximum employment, but must also deal with the White House tariff and policy circus, which is adding additional uncertainty to the economic outlook.”
“If things carry on the way they’re going, whispers of a rate hike may start to echo through the corridors of the Fed,’ Stell added.
Critics of Trump were quick to bash the 78-year-old following the inflation report, as one person wrote: “The tariffs and trade wars aren’t bringing down prices and stabilizing the market? Who would have guessed?”
Another added: “We learned in 2023 and 2024 that cutting interest rate does absolutely nothing to stop inflation,” while one user asked, “So what happened to all the promises of bringing grocery prices down and gas prices down?”
Trump has already shook up the country in barely a month in office – and he’s clearly aware he’s also ruffled some feathers.
The politician – who has vowed to take over the devastated Gaza Strip and “level” the site before looking to redevelop it – was recently asked what protocols would be triggered should he be killed by an Iranian plot.
He revealed: “I’ve left instructions if they do it, they get obliterated, there won’t be anything left.”
Federal authorities have been tracking Iranian threats against Trump and other U.S. administration officials for years.
Trump is no stranger to assassination attempts, having already survived at least two, including one last July while he spoke during a Pennsylvania rally.
The incident left two people dead including the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Elon Musk went from dismissing Donald Trump as “nuts” to becoming his biggest backer.
The tech tycoon was initially reluctant to support Trump in 2016, but things changed once he saw the president’s “bulls—” skills and realized he could seize the opportunity to elevate his unstoppable empire, Knewz.com can reveal.
In his biography Elon Musk, author Walter Isaacson – who spent two years shadowing and interviewing Musk for the book – described how the mogul had been backing the Democratic Party before making his dramatic shift to the opposing side.
Isaacson wrote of Musk: “Like many techies, he was liberal on social issues but with a dollop of libertarian resistance to regulations and political correctness.
“He contributed to the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and then Hillary Clinton, and he was a vocal critic of Donald Trump in the 2016 election.”
Isaacson recalled how Musk even said of Trump at the time: “He doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States.”
After Trump’s win, the tech mogul became cautiously optimistic – hoping he might govern as an independent rather than a far-right figure.
Isaacson recalled Musk saying: “I thought that maybe some of the crazier stuff he said during the campaign was just a performance and he would land in a more sensible place.”
Encouraged by his friend Peter Thiel, Musk agreed to join a December 2016 meeting in New York with tech CEOs and the president.
Musk then met privately with Trump to assess his leadership, where Trump joked about receiving a Tesla he never drove and expressed interest in revitalizing NASA – which baffled the entrepreneur.
Isaacson wrote: “Musk thought the meeting was odd, but he found Trump to be friendly. ‘He seems kind of nuts,’ he said afterward, ‘but he may turn out okay.'”
Trump told CNBC’s Joe Kernen he was impressed by Musk, particularly his rocket work, and compared him to historical geniuses like Edison.
For Musk’s part, the billionaire started to realize how Trump as president was no different from his campaign persona; the buffoonery wasn’t just an act.
He even compared Trump to his father, noting his clever ability to “bull—-” people.
Isaacson wrote: “He concluded that Trump as president was no different than he was as a candidate. The buffoonery was not just an act.
“‘Trump might be one of the world’s best bull——-s ever,’ he says. ‘Like my dad. Bull——– can sometimes baffle the brain. If you just think of Trump as sort of a con-man performance, then his behavior sort of makes sense.'”
After Joe Biden assumed office, the tech mogul continued to harbor a “deep disdain” for Trump – whom he regarded as a con man, the writer revealed.
That was one of the reasons Musk initially agreed Trump should be removed from Twitter, though he was later reinstated in 2022.
Still, the SpaceX founder told Isaacson: “I’m not Trump’s fan. He’s disruptive. He’s the world’s champion of b——-.”
Yet during Trump’s 2024 campaign rally, Musk was by the Republican’s side the entire time – despite his former aversion.
Their incredibly close bond over the past year has raised eyebrows, and Musk has denied any direct political favor exchange with Trump – despite financing his campaign and promoting misinformation on his social media platform, X.
But theories over their relationship have been swirling as Musk continues to portray himself as a political centrist aiming to improve the world.
On Wall Street, some view Musk’s support of Trump as a strategic move to expand his empire – as Tesla’s stock has boosted significantly, as per The New Yorker.
Tesla’s market value rose by nearly $50 billion post-election, benefiting from potential favorable policies under a second Trump administration, especially for Musk’s other ventures like SpaceX and Starlink – which rely on federal contracts.
Musk also sees Trump’s stance on tariffs and EV credits as advantageous for Tesla’s dominance.
The tech mogul’s push for autonomous vehicle regulation – particularly at the federal level – could accelerate Tesla’s ambitions, though it’s been complicated by state-level regulation and safety investigations.
Tariffs on Chinese imports could help Tesla by reducing competition, although it might raise some costs unless Musk gets special treatment, similar to Apple’s.
Additionally, Musk’s influence over Trump could extend to policy decisions, like the choice for Treasury Secretary.
Furthermore, Musk’s promotion of Dogecoin has profited from Trump’s victory, with the cryptocurrency’s value skyrocketing post-election.
Trump’s mention of a Department of Government Efficiency, with the acronym “DOGE,” seemed to benefit Musk’s crypto holdings – adding another layer to their financial and political relationship.

Donald Trump is sending IRS agents to the southern border in a bold move to hunt down and remove illegal migrants.
Knewz.com can reveal details of the president’s new plan, which includes deputizing thousands of tax agents to arrest, detain, and deport individuals as a way to assist with nationwide immigration enforcement.
In the memo, dated February 7, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated her department required assistance to carry out Trump’s executive order to “secure the Southern border and enforce the immigration laws.”
It requested Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to deploy some of the IRS’s approximately 2,000 law enforcement officers trained to investigate tax violations and financial crimes.
Noem wrote: “It is D.H.S.’s understanding that the Department of the Treasury has qualified law enforcement personnel available to assist with immigration enforcement, especially in light of recent increases to the Internal Revenue Service’s work force and budget.”
She didn’t specify the number of IRS and Treasury officials to be deputized but highlighted nine key areas: supporting immigration task forces, targeting illegal hiring, investigating human trafficking, seizing assets, overseeing contracts, aiding apprehensions, monitoring migrants, and assisting with detentions and removals.
Sources told the LA Times the newly deputized IRS agents could be tested before the end of the month, when ICE plans to conduct a “large-scale,” multi-agency sting operation in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, in L.A., hundreds of residents have taken to the streets to protest Trump’s immigration actions.
The IRS, with over 100,000 employees, includes more than 2,100 trained law enforcement officers who investigate tax violations and other financial crimes.
While the agency primarily handles tax collection and enforcement, its criminal investigators also focus on issues like drug trafficking, money laundering, and corruption.
Noem suggested these agents could assist in auditing employers suspected of hiring illegal migrants and investigating human trafficking.
The Trump administration continues a comprehensive approach to combat illegal migration, including sending 1,500 active duty soldiers to the southern border.
Trump has also proposed rerouting IRS agents to new duties and even sending migrants to a detention center at Guantanamo Bay.
Border crossings remain a focus, with Customs and Border Patrol recording 582 illegal crossings last month – the lowest in years – although numbers have been decreasing for the past two years.
Trump has also targeted the IRS, expressing his desire to reassign its agents to new responsibilities.
Of IRS agents, he said: “We’re in the process of developing a plan to either terminate all of them or maybe we’ll move them to the border. I think we’re going to move them to the border.”
The Biden administration increased IRS funding and staffing to focus on more audits and corporate crackdowns, while Republicans aim to reverse these efforts.
Trump has paused hiring new agents and nominated Billy Long, a former Republican congressman who co-sponsored a bill to abolish the IRS, as the new commissioner.
Long’s confirmation is pending – and the IRS is currently led by acting commissioner Douglas O’Donnell.

Tom Homan is now raging at the FBI, accusing the department of leaking key details of an upcoming raid focused on illegal immigrants.
President Donald Trump‘s crazed border czar appeared on Hannity and spewed various accusations, claiming the FBI was “putting officers’ lives at risk,” Knewz.com can reveal.
Homan’s appearance on the right-wing Fox News show came after an internal government document detailing a raid scheduled in Los Angeles was leaked to the media on Monday.
The 63-year-old claimed the information received “tends to lead toward the FBI,” and added such leaks can lead to the possible deaths of officers.
He continued on-air: “It’s just not giving the bad guys a heads up… you’re putting officers lives at risk.
“It’s only a matter of time before there’s going to be a bad guy who doesn’t care, who is going to be sitting in wait for the officers to show up and ambush them.”
During the interview, Homan revealed the Deputy Attorney General has launched a criminal investigation into who is behind the leak and promised to prosecute all parties involved.
“They’ve promised not only will this person lose their job, their pension… they’ll go to jail,” Homan said.
He added: “This is not a game.”
The apparent leak has now left the raid’s plans up in the air. FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration officers and agents had been tasked to assist with the upcoming raid, which is said to have been planned for the end of the month.
The raid was supposed to focus on foreigners without legal status to remain in America.
During his presidential campaign, Trump vowed to rid the country of illegal immigrants right from day one of his return to the White House.
“I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible,” Trump previously declared.
However, Trump has faced pushback from numerous lawmakers including Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, who warned that if the feds come to his state to “take away the freedom” of immigrants, they will have a massive obstacle.
“You come for my people, you come through me,” he proclaimed.
Meanwhile, that has not stopped the 78-year-old Trump from moving forward with his plans, even planning on sending IRS agents to the southern border to hunt down and remove illegal migrants.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated her department required assistance to carry out Trump’s executive order to “secure the Southern border and enforce the immigration laws.”
A memo, dated February 7, requested Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to deploy some of the IRS’s approximately 2,000 law enforcement officers trained to investigate tax violations and financial crimes.
Noem wrote: “It is D.H.S.’s understanding that the Department of the Treasury has qualified law enforcement personnel available to assist with immigration enforcement, especially in light of recent increases to the Internal Revenue Service’s work force and budget.”
All this comes as residents in numerous states have taken to the streets to protest Trump’s controversial immigration actions.
