Former United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has stated that she is doubtful of whether President Joe Biden wrote the letter in July saying he was "firmly committed" to staying in the 2024 presidential election.

Pelosi said that the letter "did not sound like" Biden to her, Knewz.com has learned.

The incumbent President sent the letter to House Democrats in July to put to rest the rumors flying at the time that suggested that he had pulled out of the Presidential race—weeks before he actually did so.

Biden's performance at the June 27 Presidential debate saw noted Democrats and party supporters call for the 81-year-old to take himself out of the running for the elections in November.

While the President had initially reportedly been adamant about staying on the Democrat Presidential ballot, he announced on July 21 that he would not be going up for re-election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris instead.

It has been reported that Pelosi had been instrumental in Biden's decision to not run for Office in 2024, pressing him about polling data and indicating that he did not have much hope of winning the upcoming Presidential election.

Pelosi also reportedly intended to go public with Democratic polling purportedly showing the amount of support actually behind the incumbent President if he decided to stay on the Presidential ticket.

"Nancy [Pelosi] made clear that they could do this the easy way or the hard way... She gave them three weeks of the easy way. It was about to be the hard way," a partisan familiar with the situation was quoted as saying.

Amidst widespread concerns about Biden's capability to fight for another term of his presidency, he wrote the letter to Congressional Democrats affirming his willingness to stay in the Presidential race.

Two days after the letter was sent, Pelosi said in a television appearance – incidentally on what has been rumored to be one of Biden's favorite political shows – that the decision to go up for re-election rested entirely on the President.

"We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short... Whatever he decides, we go with," she said at the time.

In a recent interview with New York Times columnist Ezra Klein on the New York Times Podcast, Pelosi said that to her, the letter did not "sound like Joe Biden" at all, adding that there are several people who were "unhappy with the letter."

"I didn’t accept the letter as anything but a letter... I mean, there are some people who are unhappy with the letter," she said on the podcast.

"Let me say it differently. Some said that some people were unhappy with the letter. I’ll put it in somebody else’s mouth. It didn’t sound like Joe Biden to me. It really didn’t," she added.

In a recent interview with the New Yorker, the Democratic representative of California admitted that she has "never been that impressed with [Biden’s] political operation," and maintained that she was only looking to place a "winning" candidate on the Democratic Presidential ballot.

She further clarified that she never called anyone to sabotage Biden's campaign—but rather people were calling her and talking about how putting Biden on the ticket might hinder the chances for a win in the November election.

"They won the White House. Bravo. But my concern was: this ain’t happening, and we have to make a decision for this to happen. The President has to make the decision for that to happen," she told the New Yorker.

"People were calling. I never called one person. I kept true to my word. Any conversation I had, it was just going to be with him. I never made one call. They said I was burning up the lines, I was talking to Chuck [Schumer]. I didn’t talk to Chuck at all."

"I never called one person, but people were calling me saying that there was a challenge there. So there had to be a change in the leadership of the campaign, or what would come next," she added.

She further stated that her only goal was to make sure Donald Trump never sets "foot in the White House again."
