Soldiers from the 12th Azov Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared dramatic footage of clearing Russian trenches that looks straight out of a Call of Duty video game.

Knewz.com has learned that the Ukrainian squad conducted the assault on the labyrinth of Russian trenches and dugouts with assistance from reconnaissance drones.

Captured using head-mounted GoPro cameras, the footage shows a first-person POV of the attack on Russian strongholds at an unspecified location.

The 12th Azov Brigade began the operation by sneaking up on unsuspecting enemy soldiers holed up in the trenches before sunrise on July 15. Once the Russian forces started firing back, the Ukrainian squad responded with grenades and advanced amidst the heavy smoke.

The maze of narrow trenches was riddled with well-hidden "dugouts," or small rooms, built at sharp angles where Russian soldiers could take cover.

Ukrainian troops proceeded these dugouts with caution and blazed the interiors with grenades and other explosives. One of the dugouts erupted in a relatively larger explosion, with one of the Azov Brigade soldiers mentioning that they had hit the ammo supplies.

At another dugout, the Ukrainian troops came face-to-face with a Russian survivor who was quickly put out of his misery.

The footage showed other members of the assault team tossing grenades into nearby trenches to smoke the enemy out and clear the area. One of the soldiers placed a machine gun on the banks of the cleared trenches and fired back on remaining Russian positions amidst intense gunfights.

The assault team maintained their progress through the trenches while taking heavy fire from hidden Russian troops with the assistance of explosives and reconnaissance UAVs.

While clearing the final stretch of the trenches, Ukrainian troops noticed Russian machine gunners stationed on the left flank and requested UAV assistance to locate them. One of the soldiers was then seen throwing a grenade in the direction, following which the team continued their advance.

All the Russian troops have reportedly been cleared from the trenches in the recent assault.

The 12th Azov Brigade shared the dramatic footage on YouTube as well as X, formerly known as Twitter, where it wrote:

"An assault group of fighters from the 12th Azov Brigade set out to clear enemy strongholds. A small arms battle broke out between the Azov fighters and the occupiers at a distance of less than 10 meters [nearly 33 feet]."

"As a result of the assault, all occupiers were eliminated. The enemy positions were taken under the control of Azov fighters."

The reportedly successful assault came a couple of days before Ukrainian forces had to retreat from the battle-torn significant bridgehead village on the bank of the Dnipro River, thus losing a key defensive position.

The tactical retreat marked an end to months-long efforts by Ukrainian troops to hold their ground in the face of waves of Russian soldiers at the strategically significant village of Krynky.

Over the past few weeks, Ukrainian armed forces used small boats to evacuate the now-ruined village and made their way to the Kyiv-controlled friendly positions on the North bank of the Dnipro River, as reported by Kyiv Post.
