It seems Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance is married to the narrative that former President Donald Trump won the 2020 Presidential elections instead of President Joe Biden.

Knewz.com has learned that Trump's running mate repeated the claim at the Vice Presidential debate on October 1, much like Trump himself did at the Presidential debate in September.

At the debate, Vance kept avoiding questions about whether the Republican Presidential hopeful won the 2020 elections.

"Trump is still saying he didn't lose the election. I would just ask that. Did he lose the 2020 election?" Democratic VP nominee Tim Walz asked his opponent at the debate.

"Tim, I'm focused on the future. Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 COVID situation?" came Vance's reply, which Walz called "a damning non-answer."

However, a recently emerged video clip from 2022 showed Vance being more straightforward with the claims.

The footage, which was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed comedian Jason Selvig – best known for his comedic "man-on-the-street interviews" – asking Vance whether Trump won the 2020 Presidential elections.

"Who won the 2020 election? Could you just answer? Did Donald Trump win?" the comedian asked the Ohio Senator, to which he replied, "Yes."

Selvig once again asked, "He did win?" and Vance could be heard clearly replying, "Yep."

At this point, the comedian asked a follow-up question, to which Vance did not answer.

"Will you concede if your opponent gets, if your opponent gets more votes, will you concede?" Selvig asked. "I really feel bad for you, man," came the Hillbilly Elegy author's reply.

Selvig repeated the question, but Vance walked away into another room without replying further.

At the October 1 debate, Vance also tried to defend Trump over the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, where protesters intended to stop Biden from being sworn in as the President—upon allegedly being incited by the former President himself.

"Look, what President Trump has said is that there were problems in 2020... Remember, he said that on January 6th, the protesters ought to protest peacefully," Vance said at the debate while replying to moderator Norah O'Donnell's question about whether he would "seek to challenge this year's election results, even if every Governor certifies the results."

"And on January 20th, what happened? Joe Biden became the President. Donald Trump left the White House," the Republican VP pick added.

He then went off on a rant about the "censorship" allegedly imposed by Vice President Kamala Harris.

"Kamala Harris is engaged in censorship at an industrial scale. She did it during COVID, she's done it over a number of other issues. And that, to me, is a much bigger threat to democracy than what Donald Trump said when he said that protesters should peacefully protest on January 6th."

It is worth noting that former President Trump reiterated his claims of having won the 2020 elections during the September 10 presidential debate against VP Harris.

He said at the debate that he had originally won the 2020 Presidential elections by "a landslide" but the results went in favor of Biden as a result of election fraud.

When questioned about his statements over the past few weeks where he said he lost 2020 "by a whisker" – hence acknowledging his defeat in the previous election – Trump replied that he was being "sarcastic."

"No, I don't acknowledge it [his defeat in the 2020 Presidential election] at all. I said that sarcastically, you know that," the former President said at the debate.
