Yet another violent incident rattled the United States on New Year's Day, as a mass shooting outside a nightclub in Queens, New York, left 10 people wounded.
Knewz.com has learned that no arrests have yet been made in connection to the incident.
It has been reported that a group of four men opened fire into a crowd that was gathered near the Amazura nightclub in the neighborhood of Jamaica in Queens, New York, at around 11:20 p.m. (local time) on January 1.
According to the police, the armed group fired "at least" 30 gunshots into the crowd.
Reports have mentioned that there was a private event going on at the location, with about 90 people inside the venue when the mass shooting incident unfolded.
One of the reports said that the gathering was to "celebrate the birthday and life" of Taearion Mungo, a 16-year-old who was fatally shot in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, on October 26. The boy would have been 17 on January 1.
Describing the scene of the mass shooting incident, New York Police Department Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said in a statement, "Four males walked towards the venue, three to four males began firing over 30 times in the direction of the people outside the venue hitting multiple victims."
The NYPD pointed out that it was a particularly dangerous situation as the four men fired 30 shots before making a getaway "in a gray Infiniti Q50 with a red interior and New Jersey plates."
It has been reported that the sedan was last seen on the Van Wyck Expressway.
Six women and four men between the ages of 16-20 were injured in the gunfire, according to reports.
However, the NYPD has assured that none of the victims are in critical condition and all of them are expected to survive.
Reports have mentioned that the victims have since been transported to area hospitals including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
"There is zero tolerance for these senseless shootings, these acts of violence. Those responsible will be brought to justice," the NYPD Chief of Patrol added in his statement.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and although they do not believe the shooting was an act of terrorism, they are looking into whether the incident was gang-related.
The Queens nightclub, Amazura, released a statement in the aftermath of the mass shooting, which read:
"We are deeply saddened by the recent and unfortunate isolated incident that occurred. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this senseless act. We are working closely with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation and to help bring those responsible to justice."
New York Mayor Eric Adams shared a statement regarding the incident as well, saying:
"An evening of celebration ended with senseless violence overnight at a venue in Queens. I want to be clear this incident has no connection to the terrorism investigations elsewhere in our country."
"As we have said, there is no room for this criminal behavior in our city and we are determined to bring these dangerous individuals to justice and get illegal guns off our streets. My prayers are with the victims and their families," the Mayor further said.
It is worth noting that the mass shooting in Queens was the latest of several violent incidents across the U.S. that rocked the nation on New Year's Day.
Earlier in the day, a Tesla Cybertruck was blown up in a large explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The suspect, who was found dead inside the scorched vehicle, has been identified as an active-duty U.S. Army servicemember.
Hours prior to the Cybertruck incident, a U.S. Army veteran who allegedly proclaimed his support for the militant group ISIS, rammed his truck into a crowd of revelers in New Orleans early morning on New Year's Day, killing more than 10 people and injuring over 30.
