As a potential election victory for former President Donald Trump looms large, many fear he will abandon Ukraine—except for British right-wing reformist Nigel Farage, who believes he (Trump) has a strategic advantage.

Knewz.com has learned that said advantage, according to Farage, is the threat of assimilating Ukraine into NATO, which he believes will compel Vladimir Putin to retreat.

While quizzing Farage, political journalist Harry Cole asked if Trump’s running mate, JD Vance would affect the current United States-Ukraine policies.

Farage answered by saying:

“I think Vance reflects a view, not just in the Republican party, that there have been too many wars launched by too many presidents over the course of the last few years.”

Farage said he understood Vance’s trepidations.

“He doesn't want to get involved and I understand that sentiment.”

Farage compared America’s potential next vice president to Trump’s last tenure in the White House.

“Trump was a much bigger player on the world stage during his presidency than anybody thought he would be.” The reason for this, according to Farage, is “he [Trump] believes that peace comes through strength.”

Based on this observation, the politician noted that he believed Trump “would not leave [Volodymyr] Zelensky with nothing ahead of an attempted negotiation.”

“Actually I think there's one quite strong card that we have against Putin which is actually NATO membership.”

“We [could] say to Putin ‘Look you've got to give up ground [...] otherwise Ukraine is going to join NATO’.”

He admitted that such an ultimatum would carry high stakes. “That would be a very aggressive act but it might be the one thing that Putin actually fears.”

Farage goes on to say he believed Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump was in power and that the root cause of the status quo was America's withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“I think it was the weakness that we saw after the surrendering of Afghanistan and giving them back to [...] the Taliban.”

“I can't predict whether a peace negotiation will be successful or not. All I can say is that all wars end in one of two ways: one is a negotiated peace settlement, the other is Annihilation,” he said during the interview with The Sun.

Farages speculation comes as Vance, known for his historic anti-Trump rhetoric, works to shore up support from the latter’s followers.

Vance claims that he was lied to about Trump and that the scales have fallen off his eyes allowing him to see the light.

Notably, Vance has brought with him a non-interventionist stance that extends to the war in Ukraine.

Reports indicate that this was his attitude from the start of Putin’s invasion.

Trump on the other hand – while having claimed the ability to end the war in 24 hours – threatened to withdraw from NATO when he was President.

Given the latter and the former, there is growing concern that the culmination of the two’s sentiments (Trump's and Vance’s) may see the ongoing war in Ukraine go Putin’s way.
