New COVID Variant Spreading Throughout the US

The coronavirus subvariant JN.1 is rapidly spreading in the US and is now estimated to cause about 20% of new Covid-19 infections. 

It is the fastest-growing strain and already dominant in the Northeast, accounting for about a third of new infections. 

The variant, also known as the heavily mutated COVID-19 variant, is raising concerns about its symptoms, transmission, and effectiveness of vaccines.
