Rachel Lyon's debut, Self-Portrait With Boy, is about an ambitious young artist who accidentally captures a boy falling to his death in the background of her self-portrait — an image that could jump-start her career but would irrevocably damage her relationship with a new friend, who happens to be the fallen boy's mother.
