Save Money, Save Calories: Make Your Own Ginger Ale
If I am going to indulge in a soda, I usually choose some form of ginger ale. So you know I was excited when I found a recipe for making my own ginger brew at home. This recipe makes a tasty, mild, and quite refreshing drink, perfect for sipping in the afternoon. It's lower in sugar than anything you'll find in the stores, plus, ginger is a great antidote for motion sickness and promotes digestion as well.
Healthy Ginger Ale

Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons fresh grated ginger
2 cups water
4 teaspoons honey
2 cups soda water
Lemon
Ice
Directions
- Finely chop ginger in a food processor or with a hand grater. Boil the still water and add the ginger to it. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain, then add honey.
- Allow mixture to cool to room temperature. To make each glass, pour one-half cup of mixture into a tall glass. To that, add one-half cup soda water, a lemon slice, and ice. Stir and enjoy immediately.
