As the seasons change, the weather gets colder and our skin gets drier, which is why now is the perfect time to look into products that will keep us hydrated and dewy. From hyaluronic acid to snail mucin, there are plenty of ingredients that promote healthy, hydrated skin. One of these lesser-known ingredients is squalane — a lightweight, plant-derived oil that promotes moisture retention in the skin and can help protect against free radicals.

One brand that has really leaned into incorporating squalane into their products is Biossance. Case in point: their Get Glowing Hydrating Routine Kit includes three products (Squalane + Marine Algae Firming & Lifting Eye Cream; Squalane + Hyaluronic Acid Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum; and Squalane + Omega Repair Deep Hydration Moisturizer) that all include squalane as one the first items on their ingredients lists. Along with their main squalane line, Biossance also offers the Pro-Peptide™ Hydrating Lip Perfector Balm with Hyaluronic Acid.

Biossance's hydrating products are made for all skin types, and promise to be good for anti-aging and fighting dryness. To corroborate these claims, three PS editors put different Biossance hydration-boosting skin-care products to the test for the eyes, lips, and face.

Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream

Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream ($56)

"When I first opened the jar, I was concerned that the Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream would be too rich for my milia-prone under eyes. But it actually has a whipped texture that makes it feel weightless on the skin. Once applied, the skin around my eyes immediately felt softer and more hydrated. It helped me look more awake each morning, too — thanks to the eye cream's peachy yellow hue that helps with brightening dark circles. Most importantly though, after two weeks of consistent use, there are no new milias in sight. Overall, this is a great eye cream for anyone who needs deeper hydration, is looking to reduce the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, or is ready to trade in their gel eye cream for a thicker formula that still feels lightweight." — Alida Araica, newsletter manager

Biossance Squalane + Ectoin Overnight Rescue Deep Repair Night Cream ($68)

Biossance Squalane + Ectoin Overnight Rescue ($68)

"I'm usually selective about skin-care products because, while I have normal to dry skin, I also have sensitive skin, and anything can break me out if I'm not careful. I tried the Biossance Squalane + Ectoin Overnight Rescue night cream, and to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The cream left my skin baby-soft the next morning with no breakouts or signs of irritation, so I'm completely sold. To all the sensitive-skin girlies, give this one a try. I'm buying the rest of the products in the Biossance line ASAP!" — Shari Straker, social content producer

Pro-Peptide Lip Perfector ($18)

Pro-Peptide Lip Perfector ($18)

Pro-Peptide Lip Perfector ($18)

"As someone who takes lip care pretty seriously (I use a separate toothbrush just for lip scrubs and regularly apply overnight lip masks), I'm always on the hunt for a great lip balm. I tried the Biossance Pro-Peptide Lip Perfector, and one of the things I loved right away about this product was its light vanilla scent — it was sweet but not at all overwhelming. This lip balm is pretty rich in texture, almost like a lip mask, and one of my favorite things about it is how glossy it is. My lips instantly looked fuller when I put on the balm, and on top of that, I found that when wearing makeup, my lipstick applied very smoothly on top of it.

One thing I noticed, however, was that if you use even a little too much, the texture of the balm gets pretty goopy pretty fast. In a way, this could be a positive (it proves that a little truly goes a long way), but the second you put on too much, you'll have to remove some of the product from your lips. Overall, though, this is a very hydrating lip balm that I found myself not needing to reapply often at all. I'm particularly excited to see how it works in the winter." — Annie Harrigan, editorial coordinator
