When it comes to beauty trends, 2024 spoke to the lazy girl in all of us, favoring simpler, natural-looking aesthetics that were easy to pull off in a pinch. But what does 2025 have in store? Three celebrity makeup artists gave us the rundown on what makeup trends to look out for this year. To give you the TL;DR, don't worry, natural styles aren't going anywhere, but there's room to play around with plenty of bolder looks, too.

Last year was about discovering your most flattering makeup using tools like contrast theory or the demi method. Now that we're all up to speed on those, makeup artists say it's time to take it a step further and lean into funkier trends, like a lower lash line cat-eyes and holographic highlighter, while balancing it out with ever-classic dewy skin. 2025 has something for everyone, guaranteed. To find out what makeup trends will dominate in 2025, keep scrolling.

Skin-Focused Beauty

If you've fallen out of love with your foundation, you'll be glad to hear that natural, lit-from-within skin is about to be all the rage. Celebrity makeup artist Sil Bruinsma thinks this bare-faced look, which showed up heavily on the spring/summer 2025 runways, will only continue to gain traction. "Dewy, luminous skin using minimal foundation or concealer with a focus on skin care [will be big]," he says. "No covering up necessary. My favorites for achieving the glass skin look are the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum ($39) for luminosity and the Glass Skin Veil Mist ($30) for an all-over glow."

Lower-Lash-Line Cat Eyes

Celebrity makeup artist Maya René describes this up-and-coming look as a sultrier twist on the classic cat eye. "This trend focuses on accentuating the lower-lash-line with a smoldering, winged liner. It's a great way to create an elongated effect without closing the eyes off like traditional upper-lash cat eyes sometimes do (unless it's a half-liner). This trend is reminiscent of the Billie Eilish-inspired cat eyes that gained popularity on TikTok after she filmed a GRWM video while she was on tour."

Bold Blush

Sabrina Carpenter's "Short n' Sweet" era inspired so many bold blush looks in 2024. René thinks this trend is here to stay for 2025. Vibrant, statement blush will be applied more liberally across the face and cheeks. "It's all about making blush a focal point of the look — bold, yet still natural," she says. "To achieve this trend, I love layering blushes for longevity and intensity." René recommends starting with a luminous blush, like the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Cheek Tint ($39), followed by the Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush ($27) "to ensure it stays vibrant throughout the day and adds that extra pop of color."

Sculpted Eyes

Celebrity makeup artist and Neen founder Jeanine Lobell predicts that the sculpted-eye look will be one of 2025's hottest trends. "Everyone has been loving Nina Park's sculpted eye on Lily-Rose Depp, and I definitely see that becoming more popular," she says. "This look is kind of the natural progression from the 'clean girl' aesthetic to more elaborate eye looks. If you want to do this kind of look, I think the Neen Pretty Shady Trios ($38) in Toasty and Bare are the perfect place to start. I made these for creating that gorgeous sculpted yet subtle everyday eye."

Satin Finishes

Rather than high-gloss shine or full matte, Bruinsma predicts that velvety satin finishes will take over in 2025. Think: the perfect happy medium between matte and dewy. Bruinsma says this can provide a much softer, flattering effect, both on the red carpet and in everyday life. A few satin-finish products he considers staples are the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Satin Lipstick ($48) and Chanel's Les 4 Ombres Palette ($68).

Minimalist Accents

There's something to be said about a minimal makeup look paired with one bolder color to really pop. Bruinsma calls this trend"minimalist accents" and predicts it to be a huge hit this year — especially on social media. "There's been a lot of talk on TikTok about the 'red lip theory,'" he says. The concept suggests that wearing bold red lipstick and nothing else can make your beat look flawless, sans any other products. "While I don't fully agree with this theory, I do believe that nothing brightens the face the way a full swipe of red lipstick can. The same could be said for a bold, sharp eyeliner. Applying one color to bare, fresh skin keeps the beauty effortless and modern."

Multidimensional Glow

While René has noticed an uptick in naturally luminous skin, she also expects to see more multidimensional looks paired with it — think holographic highlighters and eye shadows that shift the light, creating an iridescent effect. "It's a fresh approach to radiant skin that brings a more light-catching glow to the face and eyes," she says. If you're going for a look like this, she recommends trying the Haus Labs Bio Radian Gel Powder Highlighter ($40) to create dimensional shine.

Single-Shadow Looks

Lobell loves '90s makeup looks, and one particular favorite from this era that she sees being a 2025 hit is the single-shadow look. This year, we can expect to see vibrant, statement-making washes of color in eyeshadow and eyeliner. The best thing about a single-shadow look is that it's easy to apply — no blending necessary.

Natural Manga Lashes

This trend draws inspiration from anime culture. "I've already seen this style become popular for lash extensions. Manga lashes focus more on lashes that open up the eyes, creating a doll-like effect that feels light and airy yet defined. It's a more natural take on dramatic lashes, perfect for enhancing the eyes while keeping the overall look soft and wispy." If you aren't a fan of false lashes, René says to opt for mascaras like Tarte's Maneater ($27), but you can take it up a notch by adding lash clusters like Lashify's Starburst Black Gossamer Lashes ($25) for extra definition.
