Prince William and Kate Middleton's Kids Make a Special Visit to Meet David Attenborough
On Saturday, Kensington Palace released new photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton's family visiting with David Attenborough, and the kids look as cute as can be. George, Charlotte, and Louis's excited energy practically jumps out of the pictures as their parents laugh nearby. Could that be because the kids are so thrilled to meet the natural historian? Or perhaps because he gifted George with an actual dinosaur fossil? That's right, George got his very own dino tooth!
"When they met, Sir David gave Prince George a tooth from a giant shark 🦷 the scientific name of which is carcharocles megalodon ('big tooth')," the royal family captioned the photos on Instagram.
"Sir David found the tooth on a family holiday to Malta in the late 1960s, embedded in the island's soft yellow limestone which was laid down during the Miocene period some 23 million years ago. Carcharocles is believed to have grown to 15 metres in length, which is about twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark alive today."
That's quite the legacy! In addition to the fun family outing, William also sat down for a special outdoor showing of David's new film, A Life on Our Planet, which will be coming to Netflix on Oct. 4. "With a shared passion for protecting the natural world, they continue to support one another in their missions to tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges our planet faces," the caption reads. "This includes working together on The @EarthshotPrize 🌍 the most prestigious global environment prize in history — further details of which will be shared in the coming weeks."
