Sia shed her signature oversize wig for a pared-down performance of one of her (best) songs, "Elastic Heart," during Kanye West's weekly church service in LA on Sunday. Kim Kardashian shared a handful of videos from the event, which was held inside due to the weekend rain. One clip shows the choir singing an updated version of Sia's 2013 hit; you can hear the Australian singer's distinctive vocals off-camera before she emerges, cell phone in hand, to join the group in their rendition. "There wasn't a dry eye in this room today," Kim tweeted.
Sia is the latest celebrity to join Kanye's exclusive invite-only services, which he recently brought to Coachella. Kim has called the weekly festivities "a healing experience" for her husband. "It's just music; there's no sermon. It's definitely something he believes in — Jesus — and there's a Christian vibe," she told Elle. "But there's no preaching. It's just a very spiritual Christian experience."
I'm not entirely sold on the Church of Kanye (I just think the color palette could be livelier; less Heaven's Gate and more Rajneeshpuram, maybe), but as a longtime fan of gospel choirs, Sia, and especially "Elastic Heart," this surprise performance gave me goosebumps. Check out the videos ahead.
