Meet the Cast of Fargo Season 3!
It's been far too long since we saw the final episode of Fargo season two, and we're itching to return to the world of snowy, small-town crime. While season two has loose ties to the first season (it's essentially a prequel), the upcoming installment is seemingly a completely self-contained story. Casting news and plot details have been coming in for months, and the season is finally premiering on Wednesday night. Until then, take a look at the actors and who they're playing!
Ewan McGregor
McGregor is leading the cast in two roles; he's playing a set of twins! Emmit Stussy is the successful "Parking Lot King of Minnesota," while his brother Ray is balding, tubby parole officer. Ray resents Emmit, blaming him for all the troubles in his life. According to FX, "their sibling rivalry leads to a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters, and cut-throat competitive bridge."
Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Winstead is playing Ray's girlfriend Nikki Swango, "a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge."
Carrie Coon
Coon (The Leftovers) is playing divorced police chief Gloria Burgle.
David Thewlis
Harry Potter alum Thewlis is playing V.M. Vargas, "a mysterious loner and true capitalist who delivers Emmit the bad news that the Parking Lot King of Minnesota has just become partners with his employers, whose business interests lay outside the law."
Michael Stuhlbarg
Emmit's right-hand man Sy Feltz will be played by Stuhlbarg, who you may recognize from Boardwalk Empire.
Jim Gaffigan
Comedian Gaffigan has joined the cast as Gloria's deputy at the station, Donny Mashman.
Scoot McNairy
McNairy (Halt & Catch Fire) is playing Maurice LeFay, "a stoner with a criminal past."
Shea Whigham
Whigham, also a former Boardwalk Empire star, will appear as Moe Dammick, the Meeker County chief of police.
Fred Melamed
Character actor Melamed will appear as Howard Zimmerman, "a mover and a shaker, with a knack for spinning a yarn and making a profit."
Thomas Mann
Finally, Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) is rounding out the main cast as a sci-fi author named Thaddeus Mobley.
