Beyoncé Is Officially the Most Awarded Artist in Grammys History
Beyoncé has a lot to celebrate after her outstanding 2023 Grammy wins. The singer, who was nominated nine times, bringing her total nomination count to 88 and making her the most nominated woman in Grammys history (she's currently tied for the most of all time with her husband, JAY-Z), officially broke the record as the most-awarded artist in the Recording Academy's history!
On Feb. 5, Beyoncé took home four awards for best electronic/ dance recording, best dance/ electronic album, best traditional R&B performance, and best R&B song, all for her celebrated "Renaissance" album. During her acceptance speech, the icon fought back tears as she thanked her parents, JAY-Z, her three children Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter, and her late uncle Jonny, who inspired her latest album.
"Renaissance" is Beyoncé's seventh solo effort and her first since 2016's "Lemonade." She promised that the album was act one of a three-part series, though it's still unclear what the next two parts of that series will be.
Beyoncé's nine nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards is the fourth time she's been nominated for at least nine awards in a single ceremony, after 2010, 2017, and 2021. She's also the first Black woman to be nominated for album of the year four times as a lead artist (though she's never won a major category) and the first Black woman to ever win best dance/ electronic album at the ceremony. Now, Beyoncé has won 32 total Grammys over the course of her decades-long career.
Keep reading to see a comprehensive breakdown of how Beyoncé became the most awarded artist in Grammys history.
