Here's When Frozen 2 Will (Eventually) Be on Disney+

Frozen 2 has finally arrived in theaters, but when will it be on Disney+? Even though Disney now has its own streaming service for all its in-house films, it'll still be several months before you can stream the new animated sequel at home.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+ won't be changing much in terms of how long it takes for movies to go from theaters to home streaming. In other words, you shouldn't expect a shorter window of time just because it's going to a platform owned by Disney as opposed to a licensing home such as Netflix. For now, that means about a seven-month gap between a movie's theatrical release and its streaming debut. For Frozen 2, then, we can probably expect to see it hit Disney+ sometime next Summer, perhaps in June or July.

While you wait for Frozen 2 to eventually land on Disney+, there are still plenty of options you can watch to get your fix of your favorite Arendelle residents. The original Frozenhas moved over to the new service, and it's accompanied by bonus features, including deleted scenes. You can also catch several quirky standalone Frozen short films. There's LEGO Disney Frozen: Northern Lights, which is a quartet of character-focused short films featuring the LEGO versions of the characters going on an adventure to solve the mystery of the disappearing Northern Lights. There's one short film each for Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf. In addition to this set, there's also Olaf's Frozen Adventure, a holiday-themed special short that runs a brisk 22 minutes.

For what it's worth, it's likely that Frozen 2 will be in theaters for quite some time, so you'll have plenty of time to catch it during its initial run. The highly anticipated sequel, according to Deadline, is anticipated to break box office records in its opening weekend; it's projected to possibly cross the $100 million threshold in the US alone, with a global prediction of around $242 million on opening weekend. It's part of Disney's biggest year yet, with box office giants Avengers: Endgame and Toy Story 4 already in their pockets and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker still to come!
