The Shallows: Where the Hell Is That Killer Beach?
Blake Lively squares off against a hungry great white in The Shallows, but before things get ugly, the scenery is really, really beautiful. Lively's character, Nancy, has traveled to Mexico to find the elusive beach that she sees in a photograph of her late mother. She tells the local who drives her there that it's the beach where her mother found out she was pregnant with Nancy, and coincidentally, there's a chain of islands in the distance that sort of look like the profile of a pregnant woman — if you're drunk. He refuses to tell her the name of the beach, so we never find out where it is, but we do know where Lively filmed those beach scenes: Lord Howe Island in New South Wales, Australia. Photos of the orange-bikini-clad Lively on the set surfaced in November of last year. While the beach, as Nancy knows it, is a mystical place, Instagram pictures from tourists give us a great look at the actual Lord Howe Island. Check it out!
Does that land formation look familiar?
Here's some of that fire coral Nancy steps on.
You can almost see her hanging onto that buoy for dear life in the distance.
So, when are we going?
