The Real Reason Petyr Baelish Is Called "Littlefinger" on Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones' Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish has always rubbed us the wrong way. Maybe it's his slimy, ingratiating manner. Could also be the fact that he's a brothel owner and glorified pimp. Mostly, it's the fact that he sold Sansa Stark to a rapist and then propositioned her afterwards, telling her he loved her, even though he'd also loved her mother. But where did he get his nickname, Littlefinger?

Turns out, Petyr was born to an impoverished house in the littlest of the cold and stony peninsulas known as The Fingers. When he was fostered at Riverrun, Edmure Tully mocked both his small size and his small holdings by giving him the name "Littlefinger." Over the years, Petyr has come to embrace that name as a reminder of just how far he's come.

It could be a feel-good tale . . . except he still gives us the creeps. Shudder.
