Aww — a Nursing Home in Texas Is Hoping For Tons of Trick-or-Treaters Tonight

If you haven't firmed up your trick-or-treat plans for Halloween yet, you might want to rethink your usual routine. While it's always a fun treat for the kids to see other families walking about, a retirement home in Texas has spawned an entirely new idea that we think is just too sweet not to share.

Residents at Heartis Senior Living — Clear Lake in Webster, TX, took to Facebook a few weeks ago asking for candy donations so residents could hand it out to the entire neighborhood. Seniors held handwritten signs saying they missed passing out candy on Halloween. Not only did people deliver, but they are also now geared up with so much candy, they hope enough kids come!

Romper contacted the living center to learn about how residents are feeling. "One of my residents actually told me that it's been 30 years since she had a trick-or-treater visit her," Becky Hudson, lifestyle director at Heartis Senior Living, told the site.

Going trick-or-treating at a retirement home is the sweetest thing, and we definitely want to spread the message. If you're not sure where to take the kiddos tonight and the idea of being indoors somewhere safe and warm is appealing, definitely call your local senior center and see if they're celebrating, or if you're in Texas, go visit the seniors at Heartis!
