Amanda Gorman is a vision in blue! She wowed the nation at the presidential inauguration earlier the year with her beautiful poem andgorgeous Prada coat, and she did it again at her first-ever Met Gala Monday night. Wearing a royal blue Vera Wang minidress featuring a dramatic long train adorned with little pearls — as well as matching Stuart Weitzman sandals — the newcomer dazzled on the red carpet.
While Amanda certainly looked incredible, the meaning behind her look is even more beautiful: the dress is inspired by the Statue of Liberty, as is her blue book-shaped clutch. Upon closer viewing, the front of her purse reads "Give us your tired," which is a nod to "The New Colossus" poem on display inside the landmark. See the 23-year-old poet, who's co-chairing the event alongside Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, and Naomi Osaka, posing from all angles ahead.
