Britt Stewart
The first Black woman pro dancer on Dancing With the Stars, Britt was a semifinalist in season 29 with her partner, figure skater Johnny Weir. The Details
Britt said her fitness routine is "always shifting" depending on her performance schedule and what her body needs that week. "I've learned to think intuitively when it comes to what workouts I choose to do," she told POPSUGAR. "When my dance schedule is really busy, I incorporate my favorite low-impact workouts. When I have time off, I make sure to add in my favorite at-home cardio reps throughout the week." She balances her workouts with daily mindfulness practices like meditation and qi gong. "As long as I create balance and listen to what my body needs, I know I will have a successful workout routine!" Britt said.

Dance and Choreography Studio Session
"Studio sessions are where I get to dance and choreograph. They will always be my favorite way to work out. In addition to getting my heart rate up, dance is a great way to tone your body; styles like ballet and ballroom create toned muscles and developed calves, while tap and hip-hop really tone your thighs and booty! All styles of dance require you to use your core. Warmups and cooldowns give my body a good stretch, and I always make sure to incorporate injury prevention exercises."

Hike
"One of my favorite workouts to do here in LA is hiking. It's the perfect way to get out in nature and also get in a good workout! While working on Dancing With the Stars over the last few months, I didn't have the opportunity to go for a hike, so getting out on a trail was very refreshing, and I even worked up a sweat!"

Rest Day
"I am a firm believer in having a rest day at least once a week. Dancing for as long as I have demands a lot of me physically, so I have learned that I must care for my body to sustain performance. Pre-COVID, I regularly got massages and am really looking forward to when I can start doing that again. I also love at-home self-care like a long Epsom salt bath with essential oils. I recently went to one of my favorite places, Remedy Place, to recharge and rejuvenate prior to Los Angeles getting locked down again. I consider this a treat because I truly allowed myself to indulge. I received IV therapy, cryotherapy, and had a hyperbaric oxygen chamber session and an infrared sauna session. I left my day at Remedy Place truly detoxed, recharged, and floating!"

Vinyasa Yoga
"Outside of dance, yoga is my absolute favorite thing to do to work out! It's a blend of some things that I really enjoy: movement and mindfulness. Before quarantine, I loved going to CorePower Yoga for hot Vinyasa yoga. I would come out of class drenched but feeling strong, stretched, charged, and calm. At home, it's hard to truly re-create a hot yoga class, but I find a good class online and either turn off the AC or turn on the heat. I did this workout midmorning, but there are some weeks that I enjoy finishing my day with yoga. I really find that yoga is good at any time of day!"

Qi Gong and Yoga Stretch Session
"I had a friend tell me about qi gong a few months ago and have loved incorporating it into my fitness routine and my mindfulness practices. For me, it's a form of movement meditation, and I always feel my energy buzzing in and around me after I finish. I have found some great resources on YouTube. Most days, I also need a really good stretch, and today, I chose to do it in yoga format. As a dancer, if I don't stretch, I really feel it negatively in my body. Stretching is something that always has to be part of my weekly workout routine."

Bodyweight Cardio
"This is my favorite cardio workout because it's quick but gets you sweating and your heart rate up quickly! The actual workout is 20 minutes with a 10-minute warmup and 10-minute cooldown. On weeks when I feel like I need a little extra activity, I will do this a few times a week and add in abs at the end before I cool down."
Britt's Workout:
Repeat this circuit twice after a warmup. Do 50 seconds of each exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest.
- Jumping jack
- Side lunge
- Mountain climber
- Speed skater
- Run in place
- Plank
- Shuffle squat
- Jump rope
- Lunge
- High knees

Meditation
"I have made meditation and prayer part of my daily routine for a long time now. For me, it's a spiritual practice but also keeps me grounded and calm. I mix up the way I meditate all the time. Some of my favorites are mantra-based meditation, sound bath and sound frequency meditation, and silent meditation. If I have more time, I will also journal. This daily and weekly practice of meditation and prayer has completely changed my life for the better."
