Since lighting the Olympic cauldron in Tokyo, Naomi Osaka's return to tennis has been the talk of the town. And after her opening-match win, viewers were on the edges of their seats anticipating a medal-winning finish. However, Osaka's Olympic run has come to a close after losing 6-1, 6-4 to Markéta Vondroušová of the Czech Republic in the third round.
Her time at the Games cut short, Osaka told reporters, "I am glad I didn't lose in the first round, at least." Osaka maintained a positive outlook on her brief time competing in Tokyo, telling the press: "I am really glad to be here. I am sad I lost, of course, but all in all, I am really happy with my first Olympic experience." While this is the end of Osaka's 2021 Olympic run, we're sure that she will return to the world stage in the near future.
