This Senior Superlatives Project Aims to Find Older Dogs Their Forever Homes

Diana Weisman is on a mission to eliminate the apprehension associated with adopting older dogs. Using her art background, she partnered with photographer Julia Comita to create The Senior Superlatives Project, which aims to place older pups in their forever homes through Second Chance Rescue. Constantly faced with the question, "I won't have a long time with them, aren't they just going to die on me?" Diana and Julia want to put perspective prospective pet parents at ease.

According to the project's website, adopting out dogs who are 6 and older can be particularly hard. In an effort to highlight the benefits of adopting senior pets, Diana and Julia gave eight dogs in need of forever homes their own superlatives — like future car ride companion and best listener — to prove there's more to having a pet than their age.

"This series reminds us that age doesn't matter when it comes to the love a dog has to give or their quality of life."

"This series reminds us that age doesn't matter when it comes to the love a dog has to give or their quality of life," reads the project's website. "Personality, potential, and possibility exist in every shelter animal if they are given the chance. Whether taken from an abusive situation, brought in after the death of an owner, or simply returned for being 'too old,' there are a lot of reasons why senior dogs end up in shelters. But this project is not about their past, it's about their future with you."

So far, the project seems to be working for these dogs, as one pup named Woody already found a brand-new home! Read through to get a look at this amazing photo series that will make you want to adopt a senior dog ASAP.
