On Tuesday, Sen. Cory Booker spoke on the floor for 25 hours and five minutes without rest in protest of the Trump administration's policies. In doing so, he broke the Senate talkathon record that stood for decades, previously held by Sen. Strom Thurmond at 24 hours and 18 minutes; Thurmond was opposing the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Booker's record-setting speech was a valiant display of stamina and dedication.

This morning, we found ourselves in awe of not just his courage and discipline, but his preparation. That included dehydrating himself so he wouldn't need a bathroom break and, more practically, choosing comfortable sneakers. We couldn't help but wonder: What pair could carry someone for 25 hours?
