Fashion is a little bit like food. If T-shirts and jeans are the rice and bread of your diet, then that cheerful dress or confidence-boosting blazer are like dessert — indulgent pieces to be savored. That gleeful feeling you get when you take a bite of a decadent chocolate mousse or a buttery, flakey pie? That's the joy we're endlessly chasing when we get dressed, and each day brings a new opportunity to capture it.
We asked our editors to share the spring style trends they consider to be the sweet treat to their fashion diet. From eclectic to romantic to practical, there's something for every taste, plus plenty more trends to explore at Macy's. Wear what brings you joy and you'll leave no crumbs.

The Trend: Fisherman
"As someone who grew up in New England, I naturally gravitate toward the kind of aesthetics someone over the age of 60 and retired might. Though I aspire to be a coastal grandmother, truth be told, the fisherman trend feels more natural (and less overt) for my actual age. It's laidback, surprisingly wearable, and has finally converted me to the barrel pant trend. These are the most comfortable pants I've worn in years — and comfort is always my first priority when getting dressed. It's just an added bonus that every other piece — the cable-knit, the woven slides (a more relaxed take on actual fisherman sandals), the boat tote, even the sunglasses that somehow fit in New York just as well as they might in a sea shanty town — blend seamlessly into my existing closet.
But what I love the most about channeling a fisherman for fashion is that it reminds me of home — of Saturday afternoons eating ice cream while perched on the drawbridge, watching all the boats pass below me, and early Sunday mornings actually spent fishing at the beach. It's the kind of joy style trends don't often inspire in me — the kind I'll probably come back to again and again." — Samantha Sasso, senior editor, branded content

The Trend: Sheer
"Sometimes, a trend comes along that you instantly and instinctively know is going to be a perfect match for your style. That's the sheer trend for me. The delicate fabric toes the line between soft and sensual, and I love how, depending on the specific piece, it can lean demure and romantic or bold and edgy — all facets of my style depending on my mood. Every time I slip into this skirt, it immediately puts a smile on my face. Here's me channeling my demure side with a form-fitting tank, mesh slingbacks, a baguette bag, and sculptural silver jewelry. An oversized barn jacket brings a touch of casual ease to contrast the skirt and makes the entire look feel more wearable for everyday." — Stephanie Nguyen, associate director, branded content

The Trend: Track Pants
"Track pants are a major trend I've been noticing everywhere this spring, and they're bringing me loads of joy for three reasons: comfort, style, and versatility. I see them as the cooler, older sister to my leggings and sweatpants. They help me look put-together relatively easily and I love how non-restrictive they feel. I like mine a little baggy, low-slung, and hitting right at the ankle combined with ankle socks and sneakers. I've already worn this pair on an airplane, to a matcha date, working from home, and out for drinks with friends. For extra polish, I'll add layers of dainty silver jewelry and throw on a leather shoulder bag. It also helps that whenever I wear them, I definitely feel like the coolest mom at pick-up." — Kathleen Owens, editor, branded content
