Pump Up the Volume! Apple's New AirPods Max Are Here Just in Time For the Holidays

We hope you've got your holiday playlists ready to go, because Apple's new AirPods Max have arrived just in time to bump some festive tunes. On Dec. 8, Apple unveiled the over-ear, noise-canceling headphones, which immediately garnered a lot of attention because of the chic design and hefty price ($549), but the news undoubtedly has shoppers excited. Apple AirPods Max are available for preorder today and will start to ship on Dec. 15, just in time for the holidays! They also come in five colors — silver, space gray, sky blue, green, and pink.

As for the headphones themselves, well, they're packed with Apple's audio technology and sleek design. "With AirPods Max, we are bringing that magical AirPods experience to a stunning over-ear design with high-fidelity audio," Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said in a press release. "The custom acoustic design, combined with powerful H1 chips, and advanced software enable AirPods Max to use computational audio to wirelessly deliver the ultimate personal listening experience."

That listening experience is complete with the breathable knit and light headband created to put as little pressure on your head as possible. Similar to the Apple Watch, the AirPods Max have a Digital Crown to control audio from the headset. My favorite aspect, however, has got to be the active noise cancelation feature — the ear cups on both sides have "outward-facing microphones" to be able to pick up on environmental noise and adapt to outside sounds in real time. AirPods Max also have a battery life up to 20 hours and come with a sleek Smart Case. When the product is in the case, it automatically enters a low power stage to preserve battery.
