Stylists Say These 7 Haircuts Are Taking Over For Spring
If you're ready to leave hibernation behind and fully dive into spring, you've come to the right place. What better way to come out of hiding than with a fresh cut? This winter, we saw a rise in shorter haircuts like the pixie and Prada bob because they're incredibly chic yet easy to style. The good news is, that won't be changing any time soon — now that spring has arrived, shorter cuts are still set to be one of the season's hottest trends, according to stylists.
But what else is in store? Sleek, modern takes on classic favorites and low-maintenance, effortless styles that speak to the lazy girl in all of us. "As hairstylists, we're always predicting what's next while appreciating what never goes out of style," hairstylist Stewart Vann says. "For spring 2025, we're seeing a balance between modern structure and effortless movement — a nod to both vintage influences and contemporary styling."
It isn't a mystery why styles like this always come back around, but Vann and celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos gave us the full report on what's going to be everywhere this season and how you can get in on the action. For every trending spring haircut, keep scrolling.

Wispy Bangs
Giannetos says that a lighter style of bang than we're used to will fully take over this season. "Wispy bangs add texture to a cut without the heaviness of a full ban," he says. "It's playful and effortless yet sophisticated. It's also a lower maintenance bang option when it comes to daily styling. Wispy bangs are cut just around or above the brows, with soft and feathery layers. This look is great for people with fine hair because the layers add movement and volume." To style wispy bangs, he suggests a good texturizing spray like the Moroccanoil's Dry Texture Spray ($32).
Layered Italian Bob
The Italian Bob dominated the fall season last year, but now, a modified version is poised to take center stage. Vann says that it's evolving into a more layered, weightless version for 2025, making it ultra-wearable for different hair types and styling preferences.
"It sits between chin and shoulders, featuring soft, internal layers that add movement without looking overly 'done,' he says. "This is the bob for people who don't want a stiff, high-maintenance look." A classic celeb example of this is the internet's favorite trendsetter, Hailey Bieber. Although she isn't rocking a bob anymore, the light, fluffy layers gave the look something extra when she did.
Hush Cut
Giannetos sees the hush cut being popular once again this season. He explains that this cut features medium to long face-framing layers — a more polished version of the choppier wolf cut, if you will. It creates a lot of movement with subtle layers and bangs that look great on curly or coily hair types.
"A hush cut is a great option for wavy hair or medium to thick hair. It can be easily touched up for daily styling with a curling wand," says Giannetos. "This look is understated and low maintenance, so it doesn't require a lot of styling. You can let your hair air-dry and then touch it up with a flat iron or curling wand to style your bangs and create loose waves with the face-framing pieces. Or, you can blow dry in sections using a round brush and finish off with a curling wand."
Blunt-Cut Lob
Styles like the blunt bob are absolutely timeless, but for spring 2025, Giannetos says a blunt cut lob is the bold, modern take we're missing. This style of lob is sharp, sleek, and elevated. It's characterized by a blunt chop at the ends and is super easy to style. It's a great wash-and-go look that people with all hair types can rock. There are a few things Giannetos recommends to maintain this style. First, getting trims every six to eight weeks is super important to maintain the style. Second, he also recommends masking twice a week with L'Oreal's Glossing 5-Min Lamination Hair Mask ($13) to give it a high-shine, expensive-looking finish.
Butterfly Shag
Vann says that this spring-ready style seen on Jenna Ortega features two edgy cuts in one — the butterfly and the shag. "It's a '70s-inspired shag meets modern blowout," he says. This style gives face-framing layers that mimic the movement of butterfly wings, making it one of the most flattering and voluminous cuts. It's perfect for medium to long lengths and works beautifully on wavy and straight textures." To style, he uses Unite's Boosta Volumizing Spray ($36) at the roots before blow drying to give lift and separation to the hair.
Timeless Layers
Layers never seem to go out of style and according to Vann, they're here to stay for spring. "If there's one cut that remains timeless and undeniably glamorous, it's the long, cascading layers made famous by Sabrina Carpenter. This cut is all about soft, blended layers that frame the face and create movement, giving the illusion of fuller, bouncier hair. Unlike choppier trends, this style remains a go-to for those wanting effortless volume and versatility." Vann says that longer layers also enhance your natural features — it's also incredibly versatile. You can style it straight, blown out, curled, or it can be worn on your natural texture. Layers can be a bit trickier if you have curly or coily hair, but as long as you go to the right stylist and bring the right inspo, you can wear them too.
Blunt Bixie
We're noticing a pattern. Shorter styles seem set to dominate for the spring season. Another includes the bixie cut — the love child of a bob and a pixie. Vann describes this cut as a short, structured style that's still effortlessly chic. "It's perfect for those wanting a bold, modern cut that's still easy to style. The 2025 version of the bixie features blunt edges, soft layering for movement, and a slightly grown-out pixie feel, making it incredibly versatile." Styling this look is incredibly easy. If you like a textured, undone look, Vann recommends running a bit of Unite's Second Day Finishing Creme ($33) through your strands for quick styling.
