Thank Goodness For These 17 New and Returning TV Shows on Netflix in October
Whether you love all things spooky in October or would really rather avoid any creepiness at all, Netflix has got your back. The streaming service just released all the new and returning TV series coming this October, and they include a perfect mix of crime, drama, comedy, and — of course — plenty of scares. This month, you can look forward to the premiere of a follow-up series to The Haunting of Hill House, a series that looks like Sex and the City set in Paris, and a socially distanced anthology series with a killer cast, among many others. With series from Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Russia, Spain, France, Italy, and here in the US, here's everything you should binge on Netflix in October.

Good Morning, Verônica, Season 1
Based on the novel of the same name by Raphael Monte and Ilana Casoy, this Brazilian crime series tells the story of the titular Verônica, a police secretary working at a homicide police station in São Paulo who discovers a married couple with a terrible secret.

The Haunting of Bly Manor, Season 1
Loosely based on the 1898 horror novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, this supernatural horror series follows a young governess who's hired to look after a man's niece and nephew at their family country home, where she discovers strange phenomena haunting the property. Though the series is a follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House with many of the same cast members returning, the narratives of the two series will not be connected.

Social Distance, Season 1
From Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan, this inventive anthology series is set in the initial months of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, following a group of people (played by Danielle Brooks, Mike Colter, Oscar Nunez, Guillermo Diaz, Asante Blackk, Peter Scanavino, Lachlan Watson, Max Jenkins, and Marsha Stephanie Blake, just to name a few) as they struggle to stay connected while apart.

Someone Has to Die, Season 1
Created by Manolo Caro (who's the mind behind Netflix's The House of Flowers), this thriller is set in 1950s Spain during the Franco regime, telling the story of a man who shocks his conservative family by bringing home his new beau: a male ballet performer from Mexico.

Grand Army, Season 1
Based on Slut: The Play by Katie Cappiello, this drama series follows the lives of five very different students at Grand Army High School in Brooklyn (which is the largest public high school in Brooklyn) as they struggle to stand out and find their own ways.

La Révolution, Season 1
This French period drama provides a reimagining of the French Revolution, following Joseph Guillotin (the future inventor of the guillotine) as he discovers a mysterious virus known as the Blue Blood, which drives members of the aristocracy to murder commoners.

Somebody Feed Phil, Season 4
Though Philip Rosenthal is probably best known as the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, he's also a major foodie. Joined by friends and family, Phil takes on five new cities in the fourth season of his culinary series, getting a taste of the local cuisine and culture along the way.

Suburra: Blood on Rome, Season 3
The third and final installment of this Italian crime drama (which serves as a prequel to the 2015 film and the novel of the same name by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini) follows the aftermath of Lele's tragic suicide and Manfredi's unexpected recovery from his coma.
